ORANJESTAD, Aruba – On Monday, May 4, 2026, the Department of Labor and Research (DAO), together with the Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Labor, Wendrick Cicilia, officially launched the pilot project Tienda Legal Laboral at MFA Savaneta.
The Tienda Legal Laboral initiative represents a major transformation in how labor-related services are delivered, shifting from resolving disputes to preventing them. The project aims to provide early guidance and information to both employees and employers about their rights and responsibilities, promoting a healthier and more transparent labor market in Aruba.
A key feature of Tienda Legal Laboral is accessibility. By bringing services directly into neighborhoods, starting with MFA Savaneta, the initiative lowers barriers for citizens seeking labor advice. Additional locations across the island are expected to follow.
The service is built on five core principles: fairness, professionalism, helpfulness, consistency, and accessibility. It offers support on topics such as salary issues, employment relationships, labor contracts, and mediation in workplace conflicts.
To keep the process simple, the service operates on an intake basis, assisting visitors immediately when possible or scheduling appointments when needed.
Opening hours are:
- Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 12:00 & 13:00 – 15:30
- Wednesday: 08:00 – 12:00
The pilot project is located at MFA Savaneta (Savaneta 121-F). Citizens can also contact the service via phone (5932107) or email (dao.tll@aruba.gov.aw).
The Department of Labor and Research invites the entire community to explore this new service, aimed at strengthening fairness and support in the workplace across Aruba.
