ORANJESTAD (AAN): A man was arrested after allegedly pointing a firearm at a woman and her young child during a road incident near the airport.
The Aruba Gun Threat Airport Road Incident occurred Saturday afternoon when the victim encountered a vehicle blocking the road near Cas Paloma. As she carefully attempted to pass, she briefly honked her horn.
According to reports, the suspect reacted aggressively, exited his vehicle, and pointed a firearm at the woman while shouting insults. Fearing for her safety and that of her child, she immediately drove away and contacted police.
Authorities quickly responded, issuing an alert with the suspect’s vehicle description—a gray Honda Fit. Police units in the Playa and Mahuma areas coordinated a tactical response and successfully intercepted the vehicle near the Green Corridor roundabout.
The suspect was ordered out of the vehicle and arrested without further incident. A black handgun was later found inside the car and confiscated.
The Aruba Gun Threat Airport Road Incident has raised serious concerns about public safety and the use of firearms in traffic disputes. The suspect’s vehicle was also seized as part of the investigation.
The case is now in the hands of the Public Prosecutor, as authorities continue to address rising concerns about gun-related threats in the community.
