ORANJESTAD (AAN): Minister of Finance Geoffrey Wever announced the appointment of Thomas Domhoff as the new President of the Aruba Central Bank (CBA). This appointment follows a rigorous and extensive process managed by the Board of Commissioners of the Central Bank, led by Mr. Arie Swaen.

The selection process involved collaboration with external experts to define the profile for the role, as well as a thorough application, evaluation, and screening process. Based on professional assessments and independent criteria, the Board of Commissioners selected Mr. Domhoff as the most suitable candidate to lead the institution into its next phase.

This transition marks a significant moment for the Aruba Central Bank, following nearly 20 years of leadership by Mrs. Jane Semeleer. Mrs. Semeleer retired in December 2025, leaving behind a remarkable legacy, especially for her leadership during challenging global economic times and her role in maintaining the stability of the Aruban Florin.

Mr. Domhoff brings over 30 years of leadership experience across banking, finance, agriculture, and education sectors, both in Aruba, Curaçao, and internationally. He has held various senior positions, including serving as CEO of GI-RO Settlement Holding N.V. (GSH) in Curaçao. His extensive experience, strategic leadership, and focus on innovation and human capital will contribute to strengthening the role of the Aruba Central Bank as a pillar of financial stability and economic confidence.

The goal of Mr. Domhoff is to contribute to a robust, transparent, and future-oriented Aruba Central Bank, one that inspires confidence, fosters financial innovation, and contributes to the sustainable economic development of Aruba.

Minister Wever praised the independent process and the key role of the Board of Commissioners in the decision, emphasizing the importance of solid and transparent governance in critical institutions like the Aruba Central Bank, where there is no room for partisan politics.

Minister Wever also expressed gratitude to the entire Aruba Central Bank team, especially Ms. Miriam Gonzalez, who served as Interim-President after Ms. Semeleer’s departure, leading the bank professionally during this transitional period.

Minister Wever warmly welcomed Mr. Thomas Domhoff and wished him great success in his new role as President of the Aruba Central Bank, leading the institution into its next phase.
