ORANJESTAD (AAN): In the Aruba child abuse case, G. (37) appeared in court following an appeal by the Public Prosecutor’s Office against the Court of First Instance decision made on November 21, 2023, which had acquitted him of charges of abusing his children. The Public Prosecutor had appealed this decision.

Prosecutor General (PG) accused G. of committing immoral acts with his two minor children.

The Court of Appeals questioned G. about the situation. G. stated that things went wrong when his ex-wife’s new partner, B., was allegedly seen at the house, which led to accusations against him. He denied having contact with the children and explained that the allegations came from his ex-wife, who he believes instigated the children to testify against him.

The Court noted a difference in statements from the children and showed that the children had been seen by a psychiatrist, where they confirmed having experienced trauma. G. denied any involvement in the children’s exposure to inappropriate material, stating he was surprised by the findings.

The Prosecutor General emphasized the seriousness of the Aruba child abuse case and called for further investigation into the facts. It was decided to postpone the case to May 22, 2026, while additional witness testimonies and email inquiries are made.

The Court emphasized the need to investigate whether G. had been living with his mother after leaving his home and how regularly he visited his ex-wife’s house.

This case continues to unfold, with further investigation into possible evidence required for a clear conclusion.
