ORANJESTAD (AAN): The Aruba Beach Policy Sustainable Plan Supported by ATSA was highlighted during a recent meeting between the Aruba Timeshare Association (ATSA) and the Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor, where the organization reaffirmed its commitment to working with the government on developing a balanced and sustainable beach policy for the island.

During the meeting, ATSA emphasized its willingness to collaborate constructively with the Government of Aruba to ensure that Aruba’s beaches remain protected while also supporting the country’s tourism industry and community needs.

The Aruba Beach Policy Sustainable Plan Supported by ATSA aims to establish clearer guidelines and stronger coordination among stakeholders involved in the management of Aruba’s beaches. ATSA noted that it recently participated in a research process conducted by SER (Sociaal Economische Raad) related to the management of Aruba’s beaches.

Through that process, ATSA supported the recommendation for a more structured approach to beach management, including clearer regulations, improved coordination among authorities, and stronger collaboration with stakeholders in both the public and private sectors.

As a representative organization for a significant part of Aruba’s hospitality industry, ATSA stated that it is ready to contribute both short-term and long-term solutions that are practical, sustainable, and aligned with Aruba’s national interests.

The organization emphasized that cooperation based on mutual respect, transparency, and shared responsibility is essential in achieving lasting solutions.

ATSA highlighted that Aruba’s beaches are among the island’s most valuable natural resources. Protecting them is not only a matter of regulation but also a collective responsibility shared by residents, visitors, government authorities, and private sector stakeholders.

According to ATSA, maintaining clean, safe, and accessible beaches requires responsible behavior and environmental awareness from everyone who uses and manages these natural spaces.

The Aruba Beach Policy Sustainable Plan Supported by ATSA also forms part of a broader discussion about sustainable destination management for Aruba.

In addition to beach management, ATSA indicated that it supports open dialogue with the government regarding other national priorities that impact quality of life and tourism development.

These topics include infrastructure improvements such as road maintenance, wastewater management, noise regulations, waste disposal, construction moratoriums for hotels and condominiums, taxi shortages, UTV regulation strategies, and responsible regulation of short-term rental markets.

ATSA believes that addressing these issues through balanced policies and coordinated action will help maintain Aruba’s reputation as a well-managed and sustainable tourism destination.

The organization expressed confidence that through structured dialogue and good cooperation with government and stakeholders, Aruba will be able to implement policies that reflect sustainability, fairness, and respect for both the environment and the community.

ATSA concluded by stating that it looks forward to continued discussions with the Minister of Tourism and other partners as the formal beach policy process moves forward.
