ORANJESTAD, Aruba – The Aruba Department of Taxes graduation 2026 ceremony marked an important milestone as 26 professionals successfully completed the intensive Basisopleiding Belasting training program. Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Primary Sector, Mr. Geoffrey Wever, attended the official graduation ceremony and praised the participants for their dedication.

The Aruba Department of Taxes graduation 2026 follows a training program that began in October 2024 and concluded in December 2025. Participants attended classes three times per week after their regular working hours, demonstrating strong commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.

Minister Wever expressed his satisfaction with the accomplishment and emphasized the importance of investing in knowledge to strengthen Aruba’s public finances and service to citizens. He highlighted that tax collection is not merely a technical mechanism for raising funds, but a fundamental pillar for maintaining a stable and sustainable public finance system.

According to the Minister, a country’s fiscal system is built on trust. To maintain that trust, professionals must possess strong knowledge of tax law, integrity, and a service-oriented mindset. He stressed that how government employees communicate and interact with citizens is just as important as applying the law correctly.

The Aruba Department of Taxes graduation 2026 also underscores the evolving role of tax professionals. Minister Wever noted that being a fiscal specialist requires more than technical expertise. It demands passion for the profession, human sensitivity, and the ability to apply tax legislation in a fair and citizen-focused manner.

In addition, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving tax processes through modernization and digitalization. Investments in online systems and digital tools are expected to contribute to more efficient and transparent tax administration. Continuous staff training remains essential to adapt to technological advancements and regulatory changes.

“Innovation and modernization of the Department of Taxes depend directly on the level of preparation of our professionals. Investing in knowledge is investing in the future of Aruba,” Minister Wever stated during the ceremony.

He also extended his appreciation to Ms. Luenne Gomez-Pieters and her team for organizing and coordinating the Basisopleiding Belasting program.

With the Aruba Department of Taxes graduation 2026, the government reaffirms its commitment to institutional strengthening, professional public service, and the consolidation of a modern fiscal system that benefits all citizens of Aruba.
