ORANJESTAD – This year marks the 40th anniversary of Aruba’s telecommunications company, SETAR, and Roland Croes, its director, is celebrating 36 years with the company. Out of those 36 years, 23 have been spent as the company’s director. During a segment on Noticiacla LIVE, Croes revealed that he plans to remain as the director for two more years before retiring. This year, Croes reaches the retirement age of 65 and has the opportunity to extend his tenure by two more years, with approval from the Government of Aruba, as the sole shareholder.

The decision to extend his leadership also involves consultation with the Board of Commissioners and Croes’ family. Croes is the longest-serving director at the helm of SETAR. His leadership has been a cornerstone for the company, guiding it through significant changes and growth.

SETAR’s Leadership Over 40 Years
SETAR has had five directors since its establishment in 1986. The company started with Edwin Croes, who did not stay long in the role. Patricio Nicolaas took over as interim director and led until 1989. Greg Tromp briefly served as director for nine months, after which Patricio Nicolaas returned. In 1996, Ludwig Jansen became the director, with Roland Croes serving as the technical director at the time. When Jansen retired in 2003, Roland Croes assumed the role of General Director, a position he has held for 23 years, marking a significant milestone in SETAR’s leadership history.
