The Department of Infrastructure and Planning (DIP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure, has announced important changes to the management of public Carnival booth permits (precario vergunning di kavel) starting in Carnival 2026.

According to DIP, the updated booth management guidelines will be published on www.dip.aw and include detailed information about the application process and procedures for obtaining a temporary Carnival booth permit.

Names of Winners to Be Published Again

After feedback from the community over the past two years, authorities have decided that from 2026 onward, the first and last names of Carnival booth lottery winners will once again be made public. However, no additional personal details will be disclosed, in order to protect the privacy of the winners.

More Booths Available for the Public

Authorities also confirmed that additional booth spaces have been added for public use:

  • Vondellaan: 83 booths
  • L.G. Smith Boulevard: 139 booths
  • Linear Park: 23 booths (with more limited space)

Despite the increase in available booths, the lottery sequence and selection process will remain unchanged. Those who wish to view the official list of winners may do so in person at the DIP office once the list has been received from the notary.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online and in person following these steps:

  • Download the application form from www.dip.aw
  • Purchase a stamp (zegel) valued at AWG 4.00 from the post office
  • Complete the form fully and correctly and attach the stamp
  • Deposit the application in the designated DIP mailbox at Sabana Blanco 68
  • Applications can be submitted from January 5 to January 8, 2026
  • The official lottery draw will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026

Important Notes

  • Applications submitted without a stamp or with incomplete information will be declared invalid
  • Trailers may be placed one week before Carnival and must be removed within one week after Carnival
  • Booth and food booth winners must strictly comply with all permit conditions
  • Winners must email a valid ID and tax number proof to carnaval@dip.aw, clearly stating the assigned booth number
