Judicial authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death of a 17-year-old teenager who was found deceased in a residence in Sabana Liber, Noord, on Saturday afternoon.
Police patrol units from Noord, along with neighborhood officers, were dispatched to the address. An ambulance was also sent after Central Alarm received reports that a minor was unresponsive.
According to initial information, the teenager was found with visible discoloration of the body and face and showed no signs of responsiveness. Paramedics immediately attended to the youth but determined that there was no pulse. An ECG device was used, confirming that the heart was no longer beating. Medical personnel were unable to revive the teenager.
Following protocol, police requested a forensic doctor from the BFTO forensic team, who arrived at the scene and officially confirmed the death.
At this time, authorities have not released an official cause of death. However, the observed body discoloration may indicate oxygen deprivation, which could be linked to a medical condition such as asthma, Addison’s disease, or an emergency situation like carbon monoxide poisoning. Other possible causes include an epileptic seizure, cardiac arrest, or sudden heart failure.
Authorities emphasized that all of these possibilities are hypotheses only, and the ongoing investigation will determine what exactly occurred.
Condolences are extended to the family and friends of the young victim during this difficult time.
