In the early hours of Tuesday, December 24, 2025, authorities received reports of a building fire on Caya Betico Croes, near Sero Blanco and north of Win Hing Laundromat.
The building, located at Caya Betico Croes 193-E, housed Bonita Upholstery and Mattress NV, also known as Hotel Used Furniture Store. Upon arrival, firefighters found large flames engulfing the roof, resulting in a fully involved fire. Units from Tanki Flip and Oranjestad quickly responded, focusing on extinguishing the blaze while police blocked off the area for safety.
The fire spread rapidly due to the presence of wood, plywood, and furniture inside. Multiple fire units were required to contain the fire, which lasted until the morning. NV Elmar assisted by shutting off electricity to support firefighting efforts.
Authorities emphasized the importance of containing the fire to prevent it from spreading to nearby businesses, including New Tire Repairshop to the south and AGD Automotive & Quality Parts to the north.
By morning, forensic teams from BFTO, DTI, and other departments were on-site, supported by the Crisis Management Office (CMO) logistics team. The property owners were not in Aruba at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
