On the Road with Chicas Gaiteras” Brings Blessings and Joy to Homes Across Aruba

A joyful Sunday filled with music and community spirit unfolded across Aruba as “On the Road with Chicas Gaiteras” brought Christmas cheer, blessings, and smiles to homes and care facilities around the island.

The sound of traditional gaita music resonated through neighborhoods, spreading happiness especially among Aruba’s senior citizens. Prime Minister Mike Eman highlighted the importance of such initiatives, noting how music and togetherness can bring warmth and comfort during the holiday season.

Careful coordination and preparation came to life as the decorated trailer set off on its journey. The Chicas Gaiteras visited various care homes and neighborhoods, delivering Christmas music and uplifting moments to residents and elders alike.

The tour began early in the morning, departing from Frans Figaroa in Noord and continuing along the route toward Madiki. One of the most meaningful stops was at the home of the Casimiro Tromp family in Madiki 71, who recently experienced a distressing incident when a driver under the influence lost control and crashed into their house, causing significant material damage.

In response to that incident, colleagues from the Ministry of General Affairs came together to help rebuild the damaged wall of the home. This time, the same team returned—joined by the Prime Minister—not for reconstruction, but to bring joy, music, and hope.

Accompanied by Chicas Gaiteras, the visit delivered a message of love, solidarity, and renewal, lighting up the family’s Christmas tree and symbolically restoring hope. The serenade extended beyond the Tromp household, blessing the surrounding neighborhood and offering the wider community, especially Aruba’s elders, a chance to feel the warmth, unity, and blessings of the holiday season.
