Minister of Kingdom Relations, Youth, Innovation, Sports, and Education, Gerlien Croes, is currently in Curaçao for a working visit. During her trip, she also joined the people of Curaçao in celebrating the national soccer team’s historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup—a milestone that has generated excitement throughout the region.
Today, Minister Croes is participating as a speaker at the Curaçao International Sports Conference and will also attend a special meeting marking the opening of the Kingdom Special Olympics Games. She shared that upon arriving in Curaçao, she was greeted by vibrant celebrations for the football team’s achievement and noted the many messages of gratitude Aruba has received for supporting Curaçao’s national squad.
The minister was invited to the official reception honoring the players who made history for Curaçao by securing their first-ever World Cup ticket. She is also taking part in the international sports conference alongside Curaçao’s Minister of Sports, who is serving as host for this year’s event. Minister Croes expressed her hope that Aruba may one day host the conference, further strengthening the island’s presence in regional sports development.
Tomorrow, the minister will attend the opening of the Kingdom Special Olympics, where she looks forward to celebrating the enthusiasm and commitment behind these inclusive sporting initiatives. She is also scheduled to meet with the director of Special Olympics and participate in several additional meetings today to discuss a range of topics, including Curaçao’s successful approach to integrating sports and tourism.
