The Public Prosecutor’s Office (Ministerio Público) recently launched its new preventive initiative titled “Choices Matter, So Do You” at the University of Aruba.

This project is a broad collaboration between the University of Aruba, several secondary schools, and institutions that fund programs aimed at crime prevention.

The event took place in the presence of the Prosecutor General, several prosecutors, teachers, and university students. Minister of Justice Mr. Drs. Arthur Dowers delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing the crucial role of the Ministry of Justice in maintaining safety and providing accurate public information. The presence of key justice officials highlighted the project’s importance as a proactive effort to address crime prevention on the island.

The “Choices Matter, So Do You” project encourages young people in the community to become active messengers of truth and positive influence among their peers. The initiative focuses on promoting accurate information sharing and responsible behavior, aiming to prevent misinformation and inspire others to make good choices.

By empowering youth to act as influencers of positive change, the program seeks to create a long-term impact — helping young people grow into responsible, informed, and community-minded professionals who contribute to a safer Aruba.
