Aruba Plans Agri-Innovation Park with Polytunnels & Venlo Greenhouses

Aruba’s Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and the Primary Sector Geoffrey Wever announced that Dutch consultancy AAB has been selected—after a July 2025 public tender—to deliver the technical design and economic feasibility study for the island’s Agri-Innovation Park (AIP).

Designed as a modern agricultural hub for local farmers, the AIP will combine polytunnels and Venlo greenhouses with solar power, water storage, fertigation and climate control systems, training facilities, and a shared packing & cooling station.
Phase 1 covers ~30,000 m² of production greenhouses, providing space and guided training for growers adopting modern cultivation methods.

Positioned as the core of the Agripreneurial Development Program (ADP) in the National Action Plan 2023–2025, the project aims to boost food security, reduce import dependence, and build resilience against supply-chain and geopolitical shocks. It is being developed with Santa Rosa (DLVV), DEACI, project manager Elwin Groeneveld, Aruba Agriculture Development Company N.V., and the TWO of the Landspakket.

The tender favored AAB for its international experience and technical depth in similar climates. Under ministry guidance, AAB will now produce the technical design, feasibility, and financial/operational models. Results are expected early 2026, forming the basis for construction to start later in 2026.

“By investing in modern greenhouse technologies and knowledge development, we’re building resilient food production for the future,” said Minister Geoffrey Wever.
