Spotlight on Bodegas Papiamento: A Taste of Aruba’s Craft Distillery

A key highlight of the evening was a partnership with Bodegas Papiamento Distillery, an artisan rum distillery located in Oranjestad. Although relatively new in terms of its physical presence, Bodegas Papiamento has been producing premium rums since 2017, drawing inspiration from Aruba’s rich Dutch Caribbean heritage. Founder Franz Sydow led the tasting, offering guests three signature rum and chocolate pairings:

  • Caribbean Festival 8-Year-Old Rum paired with salt-kissed chocolate bark
  • Papiamento Vodka (distilled five times from organic sugar cane) paired with spicy madame Jeanette chocolate
  • Aruba Style 15-Year-Old Rum paired with nut and cranberry bark

Each pairing showcased the distillery’s craftsmanship, highlighting the complementary flavors of locally crafted rum and bespoke chocolates.

Hilton’s Global Week of Engagement: Strengthening Community Bonds

Hilton’s GWOE is an annual event designed to foster community connections through meaningful activities, kindness, and partnerships. In 2025, the theme “New Ways to Stay” focuses on creating experiences that go beyond lodging, encouraging guests to forge authentic human connections. The Hilton Aruba GWOE event epitomized this mission, blending hospitality with cultural engagement and reinforcing Hilton’s commitment to community and sustainability.

A Toast to Local Partnerships

This event wasn’t just a celebration of luxury rum and chocolate—it was a heartfelt expression of Hilton’s appreciation for its local partners. By inviting Aruban-owned businesses like Bodegas Papiamento and focusing on community collaboration, the event fostered an environment of gratitude and unity. Hilton’s efforts demonstrated the power of hospitality to build relationships and strengthen the local community.

Continuing Hilton’s Legacy of Meaningful Engagement

Part of Hilton’s broader GWOE initiative, the Aruba event stood out for its emphasis on local culture, sustainability, and collaboration. By incorporating native ingredients and inviting local artisans, Hilton reaffirmed its dedication to inclusive hospitality and sustainable tourism. The event also captured the essence of GWOE—hospitality as a powerful tool for authentic connection and cultural storytelling.
