Aruba will take part in the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York next week as part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands delegation. Representing Aruba is Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Labor Geoffrey Cicilia, who will join leaders from Curaçao and Sint Maarten for the high-level conference.
The Caribbean representatives will engage in events addressing youth, health, women’s rights, and climate, with a central focus on the challenges and contributions of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
The Kingdom delegation will be led by Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, who will deliver the Kingdom’s address to the General Assembly on September 25 and meet with global leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres and U.S. President Donald Trump.
For Aruba, participation in the UNGA offers an important platform to highlight the island’s priorities and strengthen its international voice on sustainable development, resilience, and the needs of small island nations.
