ORANJESTAD (AAN) – The Caribbean Coast Guard (Wardacosta) confiscated more than 11,000 kilograms of narcotics and rescued 443 persons at sea in 2025, according to the organization’s recently published annual report for the Dutch Caribbean.
The report describes the organization as facing pressure from regional instability, old equipment, and a lack of personnel, even as it expands its operational role. Authorities reported seizing 5,783 kilograms of cocaine and 5,450 kilograms of cannabis during operations around the ABC islands. Additionally, Wardacosta confiscated ten firearms and 64 munitions while intercepting 69 undocumented migrants.
Aruba remained a key operational hub for patrols and maritime vigilance throughout the year. The report emphasized the strategic importance of Aruba in regional maritime security, particularly regarding tensions with Venezuela.
