ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba’s Department of Taxes (DIMP) announced that a new digital application designed to improve vehicle license plate verification is currently in its execution phase.

According to DIMP director Luenne Gomez-Pieters, authorities continue encountering drivers using illegal or false license plates, including outdated plates, homemade plates, altered stickers, and duplicate registrations placed on multiple vehicles.

The new app was presented to the Aruba Police Force traffic division to support surveillance teams with more efficient vehicle inspections and enforcement operations.

Officials explained that the updated application allows officers to enter a vehicle plate number into the system and instantly verify information such as chassis number, vehicle color, and manufacturing year.

Gomez-Pieters emphasized that the system does not provide personal information such as names or addresses, focusing strictly on vehicle registration verification.

Authorities stated the app will help police identify illegally registered vehicles and reduce tax evasion involving fake or duplicated license plates.
