On Saturday around 12:30 p.m., police received an urgent call about a dangerous situation unfolding near the California Lighthouse on Aruba’s north coast. A tourist had fallen from a cliff and was stuck on a lower ledge near the waterline.
Police units immediately rushed to the scene and coordinated with the Fire Department and Ambulance Services. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that a male tourist was clinging to the rocks in a hazardous position. Fortunately, sea conditions were calm, with waves under two feet high, which reduced immediate risk.
Firefighters launched a rescue operation, securing themselves with ropes to avoid being swept away. Two firefighters descended carefully to reach the injured man, who showed visible bruises and scratches. Realizing he could not climb back up on his own, they secured him to a stretcher and lifted him safely back to the top of the cliff.
The calm sea and excellent teamwork between police, firefighters, and paramedics contributed to a successful rescue. Once stabilized at the scene, the tourist was transported by ambulance to Dr. Horacio Oduber Hospital for further evaluation.
Authorities praised the smooth coordination among emergency services, which turned a potentially dangerous situation into a positive outcome.
