Over 90 soldiers from Aruba and Curaçao are currently participating in the joint military exercise, Caribbean Strike, being held in Curaçao. The training, which commenced on June 10, will run for two weeks, with various locations, including Wacao, Ascension, and Playa Santa Cruz, serving as the sites for the exercise.

The troops from Aruba arrived in Curaçao aboard the naval support ship “Zr. Ms. Pelikaan”, which transported them to the island for the operation. Alongside their Curaçaoan counterparts, the soldiers are undergoing intensive training in a range of military skills. These include tactical infiltration, reconnaissance, ambush tactics, offensive maneuvers, marksmanship, and urban combat scenarios. Military vehicles are being used to efficiently transport troops between the various training locations.

Caribbean Strike is an integral part of an ongoing effort to improve the professionalism and readiness of Caribbean military units. The Dutch Ministry of Defence emphasized that realistic exercises like Caribbean Strike are crucial for improving the operational capabilities of these forces and ensuring they are prepared for rapid response in times of crisis.

The exercise is specifically designed to enhance the troops’ ability to respond to a variety of missions in the Caribbean, including disaster response, humanitarian aid, and regional security operations.
