Water- en Energiebedrijf Aruba N.V. (WEB Aruba) and Seven Seas Water Group have broken ground on a new state-of-the-art seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant inside WEB’s utility complex. Awarded in 2024 to the Seven Seas Aruba affiliate, the facility will produce at least 16,500 m³/day (~4.4 million gallons/day) of drinking water under a 10-year BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) Water-as-a-Service® model and is expected to be commissioned in 2026.
At the ceremony were Henry J. Charrabé (CEO, Seven Seas Water Group), Arthur Dowers (Aruba’s Minister of Energy), and Alfredo Koolman (CEO, WEB Aruba). Leaders highlighted the project’s role in strengthening Aruba’s water security and reliability without upfront capital from WEB, emphasizing sustainability, innovation, and long-term resilience for the island’s supply.
