The Fraccion di MEP has formally requested an independent investigation into alleged financial and procedural irregularities surrounding the official visit of King Willem-Alexander to Aruba in March 2026. This action follows the receipt of an anonymous letter by the faction, which accuses a senior advisor within the Minister President’s office of misusing their position for personal gain.
According to the MEP, the allegations further suggest that the Minister Prime Minister may have been aware of the potential misconduct prior to the royal visit but did not take preventive action. In response, the faction has submitted detailed questions to the Prime Minister regarding his prior knowledge and handling of the situation, while also demanding a public meeting to address the concerns directly.
To ensure an impartial review, the MEP has submitted the anonymous report to the President of Parliament with a formal request for intervention by the Centrale Accountantsdienst (CAD). The faction is asking the independent financial body to evaluate the claims to determine if a full official investigation is warranted, similar to previous procedures used in the Arubahuis case.
In their correspondence, the MEP stressed that integrity in governance is an obligation, not an option. They argue that the severity of the allegations necessitates a swift response to clarify whether proper procedures were followed and to assign political and administrative responsibility where appropriate.
