The reduction in payroll tax implemented at the beginning of 2025 is being credited to the strong leadership and sound governance of the Wever-Croes Cabinet, according to Member of Parliament Xiomara Maduro.
Maduro stated that the Wever-Croes Cabinet once again demonstrated that responsible public financial management delivers tangible benefits to the people of Aruba. Through disciplined fiscal policy, the government successfully reduced payroll tax, a political decision aimed at placing the interests of the Aruban population first.
The measure provided direct financial relief to thousands of families. In 2025, approximately 16,000 individuals were no longer required to pay payroll tax, while another 12,000 residents paid a reduced amount. This resulted in an average increase of 300 florins per month in disposable income. As the adjustment also applied to income tax, pensioners likewise benefited by paying little to no tax on their earnings during the year.
At a time when the cost of living continues to rise, the MEP-led government assumed responsibility for safeguarding the purchasing power of workers. According to Maduro, the decision was not coincidental but the outcome of financial discipline, social prioritization, and policymaking focused on national welfare rather than short-term political gains.
She emphasized that leadership driven by vision and integrity leads to concrete and positive outcomes. The effects are being felt by the public, while the local economy benefits from increased consumption and greater financial stability.
“The decision taken a year ago is now showing its real impact. MEP does not just speak about change—MEP delivers change,” Parliamentarian Xiomara Maduro stated, expressing satisfaction with the collective efforts made in support of Aruba’s overall well-being.
