Co-founder Elton Arends has officially premiered “Proyecto WOW!”, a documentary series dedicated to sharing the stories of individuals committed to preserving the region’s natural environment. The initiative, developed alongside co-founder Bianca Peters, represents the culmination of a seven-year journey from concept to reality. The project recently held its premiere, showcasing the results of years of planning and production to a local audience.
Originally intended as a single cinematic feature for theatrical release, the scope of Proyecto WOW! expanded significantly after the creators conducted research across the six islands. Arends noted that the team encountered numerous compelling narratives of people working day and night to conserve nature. Recognizing the depth and volume of these stories, the decision was made to produce a series of six documentaries rather than a single film.
The production was made possible through a partnership with a Dutch television channel, which funded the project and broadcast the documentaries. The series aims to shine a spotlight on the vital work of conservationists, ensuring their contributions to environmental protection are recognized by a wider audience. Arends emphasized that the project was born from a desire to document these efforts, transforming a simple idea into a tool for environmental awareness.
