Police bodycams and dashcams should be the subject of a government update, PPA leader Otmar Oduber said in an interview reported by Diario on October 24.
Oduber points to parliamentary support
Oduber said all 21 members of Parliament had supported a motion for the equipment, including Arthur Dowers when he was in opposition. He also referred to earlier budget initiatives intended to make funding available. These accounts of the parliamentary history are attributed to Oduber.
Cameras described as protection for both sides
The PPA leader argued that recordings could provide evidence when incidents occur and help protect both officers and members of the public. He asked why implementation had not advanced. The cited report did not contain a government response, a confirmed procurement schedule or a delivery date.
