Partido RED Sets Conditions for HOFA Law

Señor Rudy Lampe of Partido RED Democratico Aruba recently shared his party’s position regarding the Kingdom Law on Financial Supervision (HOFA) in an interview with DIARIO. Lampe emphasized that his party has consistently advocated for external financial supervision where public funds are involved.

According to Lampe, control is essential to prevent mismanagement. The party proposes two primary conditions for implementing HOFA: the budget deficit must not exceed 3 percent of Aruba’s GDP, and the country’s external debt must not surpass 40 percent of GDP. These limits align with recommendations from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and are crucial for maintaining the value of the Aruban Florin.

Lampe noted that large European nations apply similar conditions within the European Union pact, facing sanctions for non-compliance. He stated that Partido RED desires similar measures for Aruba. If the government fails to meet these financial targets, external sanctions should apply. Lampe argued this is necessary to restrict politicians who mishandle public money and place the Florin at risk of devaluation.

To elaborate on this stance, Partido RED invites the public to a presentation featuring Señor Jayburtt Dijkhoff. The event is scheduled for this Saturday, May 30, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It will take place at the ATHA hall on Caya Appeldam 2 in Dakota, and admission is free.
