The Oranjestad Police Traffic Control operation in Aruba resulted in dozens of traffic violations being recorded during a recent inspection carried out in strategic locations across the capital city.

According to the Aruba Police Force, officers from the Oranjestad district conducted a traffic control operation on Friday afternoon to improve road safety and ensure drivers were complying with local traffic regulations. The operation took place at several strategic points throughout Oranjestad, where police officers inspected multiple vehicles.

During the Oranjestad Police Traffic Control, authorities stopped and checked numerous motor vehicles. As a result of the inspection, police issued a total of 38 fines to drivers who failed to meet legal requirements. The violations included issues related to vehicle tax payments, expired inspections, invalid or missing driver’s licenses, malfunctioning vehicle lights, and problems with license plate lighting.

The Department of Public Transport (DTP) also participated in the Oranjestad Police Traffic Control operation. Officials from DTP inspected various vehicles operating within Aruba’s public transportation sector. These included taxis, buses, and other vehicles that fall under public transport regulations.

During their inspections, DTP officers issued 22 official reports to drivers who were found to be violating transport regulations. Authorities did not disclose specific penalties but confirmed that the reports will be processed according to Aruba’s transportation laws.

Police emphasized that the Oranjestad Police Traffic Control checks are part of ongoing efforts to maintain road safety and ensure drivers comply with the island’s traffic laws. Officers reminded motorists that these types of inspections will continue to take place regularly throughout Aruba.

The Aruba Police Force also used the opportunity to remind drivers about responsible behavior on the road. Motorists are urged to always ensure that their documents are valid and up to date before driving.

Authorities stressed the importance of safe driving practices, including reducing speed, avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol, and choosing a responsible driver when consuming alcohol.

“Lower your speed. If you drink, do not drive. Make sure you have a responsible friend behind the wheel,” police advised in their safety reminder.

Officials concluded by highlighting that road safety is everyone’s responsibility, and cooperation from all drivers is necessary to keep Aruba’s roads safe for residents and visitors alike.
