Collection brings Rosenstand’s work together
“Obranan Kompleto,” a collection by the late poet, writer, playwright and storyteller Ernesto E. Rosenstand, has been launched at Aruba’s National Library. Parliamentarian Xiomara Maduro attended the presentation in the library’s Caribbean Room, according to 24ora.
The book gathers writing that forms part of Aruba’s literary and theatrical heritage.
Author made Aruba his home as a child
Rosenstand was born in Santa Marta, Colombia, and moved to Aruba at age 11. Literature and theatre became important parts of his life and creative work. The collection gives a new generation access to more of his poetry and other writing.
Family tribute preserves a personal poem
The volume includes a 1953 poem dedicated to his wife, Mabel, reflecting the love that inspired his words. Maduro thanked Ernesto Rosenstand Jr. for reviving his father’s work and preserving the family’s contribution to Aruba’s cultural memory.
