Mutilated Body of 60-Year-Old Woman Found Inside Freezer in SolitoA Horrifying Crime Shocks the Neighborhood

For nearly two weeks, no one had seen or heard from a woman identified by her initials, L.D.P., a 60-year-old employee at a well-known restaurant in Eagle Beach. Her co-workers became concerned when she suddenly stopped showing up for work, something extremely out of character for someone known for her dedication. Friends also noticed her unexplained absence as mid-November passed.

A friend eventually received a message from someone living in the woman’s home, claiming that she had traveled to the Dominican Republic because a family member had fallen ill. Although her friends initially accepted the explanation, they soon found it strange that she did not notify anyone directly—not her friends, not her co-workers, and not the restaurant’s management. The situation began to feel increasingly suspicious.

When her family in the Dominican Republic was contacted, they confirmed they were not expecting her arrival, raising further alarm.

The Search Leads to a Terrifying Discovery

This past weekend, friends decided to visit her home at Solito 42-A, located about 90 meters behind Lito Convenience Store on the main road from Playa to Tanki Leendert.

The doors were locked, but entry was forced so they could check inside. As they called out “Luz!” hoping for an answer, the house remained silent.

While searching, they noticed a freezer. Upon opening it, they made a horrifying discovery—human body parts were inside.

The police were immediately alerted early Saturday morning. Patrol units from Playa and detectives from Oranjestad rushed to the scene. The person who found the remains guided police directly to the freezer. The area was secured, sealed off, and treated as a crime scene. The Forensic Team (BFTO) was called in to take over the investigation.

Friends of L.D.P. were devastated as they realized that the woman they cared about had likely been dead for nearly two weeks—and that her body had been dismembered and stored inside the freezer.

Police Statement and Ongoing Investigation

A police spokesperson confirmed the discovery of human remains at the address, but said it was impossible to officially determine whether the body was male or female due to the mutilation. The prosecutor was notified and ordered the freezer and remains to be confiscated for further examination.

Throughout Saturday and into Sunday, investigators documented the entire scene and collected multiple items from the home as evidence.

Focus Turns to a Nephew

Investigators are now focusing on the woman’s 18-year-old nephew, identified by initials A.P., who lived in the home with her since he was around 10 years old. He was the one who told her friends that she had urgently traveled to the Dominican Republic.

Why did he give this false information? Why did he claim she had left the island when her body was likely already inside the freezer? Authorities suspect that he may have fled Aruba, and efforts are underway to locate him.

Police Appeal to the Public

Police are urging anyone with information to call the Tipline at 111-41, and anonymity is guaranteed.

DIARIO extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Luz Divina Paulino, wishing them strength during this painful time.
