ORANJESTAD (AAN) – On Monday, the first day of the new school year for teachers and students at Colegio San Antonio MAVO in Santa Cruz, the school community was welcomed with a special New Year’s blessing through a traditional Dande performance.
The Dande singers shared their best wishes for the new year with students and staff, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere to mark the beginning of classes. Adding to the significance of the visit, the performers were the winners of this season’s Dande Festival.
Teachers were also seen enjoying the moment, singing along with the students and celebrating the cultural tradition together. The Dande group arrived on a trailer made available by the Go Cultura Foundation, whose support made the visit possible. The initiative was warmly received, and the school community expressed hope that it will continue in the future.
In addition to the cultural celebration, the school administration ensured that students received a sweet New Year’s treat, making the first day of school even more memorable.
