ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba Finance, Economic Affairs and Primary Sector Minister Geoffrey Wever met with representatives of the Aruba Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KvK) to discuss key initiatives aimed at strengthening the island’s economy and improving its investment climate.
During the meeting, government officials and business leaders exchanged views on strategic priorities, including the implementation of the Sustainable Public Finances Ordinance (HOFA), urban revitalization projects in Oranjestad and San Nicolas, and measures to encourage private investment.
The discussions also covered the development of regulations for vacation rentals, including Airbnb, with the goal of ensuring fair competition, consumer protection, balanced taxation, and sustainable tourism growth.
Additional topics included reducing the informal economy, improving compliance with business regulations, implementing the Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) framework, simplifying administrative procedures, and modernizing the business permit system.
Minister Wever reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reducing bureaucracy, improving public services, and working closely with the private sector to create a stronger, more competitive, and resilient economy for Aruba.
