Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector Mr. Geoffrey Wever expressed his satisfaction with the positive results of the “Agrifund” project, which continues to deliver concrete outcomes for Aruba’s agricultural and primary industries.

The Afl. 3 million Agrifund, implemented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and managed by Qredits Aruba, has proven effective in supporting local producers and farmers through financial assistance and professional guidance. The initiative helps small and medium-sized entrepreneurs expand, modernize, and make their operations more sustainable.

A strong step toward strengthening local production
The Agrifund program was created through a partnership between the Ministry and Qredits Aruba, with the goal of stimulating investment in machinery, infrastructure, and efficient production methods. Through the “Agriloan” product, producers and farmers have been able to increase production capacity and improve sustainability.

“Our priority is to strengthen the foundation of local production,” Minister Wever said. “The Agrifund program is a clear example of how a shared vision and strong public-private collaboration can create real opportunities for local entrepreneurs and contribute to Aruba’s food independence.”

Proven progress and results
Recently, Minister Wever and Ms. Nathaly Harms, Branch Manager of Qredits Aruba, visited several participants in the program, including Pok Pok Pok Aruba, Pestana Ranch, Watapana Farm, and Cluck Eggs and Poultry Supply. These businesses showcased the progress and success achieved through investments made possible by Agrifund loans.

“The Agrifund program demonstrates that with the right access to credit and professional guidance, we can create structural change in our primary sector,” Minister Wever stated.

Accessible financing for sustainable growth
For entrepreneurs in the primary sector who face challenges obtaining traditional bank loans, the government and Qredits Aruba introduced the Afl. 3 million Agrifund, offering loans up to Afl. 200,000 with a reduced interest rate of 2%.

“We are building an ecosystem where the primary sector becomes a source of innovation, employment, and national pride,” said Minister Wever. “The Agrifund aligns with the AVP-FUTURO Cabinet’s vision of a more diversified and sustainable economy.”

The Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector, together with Qredits Aruba, invites all small and medium-sized producers and farmers to apply before the end of 2025, as around Afl. 1 million in funding is still available. Minister Wever concluded: “Don’t miss this opportunity.”
