Margaritaville at Sea Expands Fleet with Acquisition of Third Cruise Ship

Margaritaville at Sea is making waves yet again this time with the acquisition of its largest vessel to date. On the cruise line’s third anniversary, the company announced the purchase of the Costa Fortuna, a 102,500-ton ship currently operated by Costa Cruises. The move signals a bold next step in Margaritaville’s mission to redefine the Caribbean cruise experience with its signature island-style charm.

Set to be transformed and relaunched under the Margaritaville at Sea brand in 2026, the Costa Fortuna will join the existing fleet alongside Margaritaville at Sea Paradise and the recently launched Margaritaville at Sea Islander. Once refurbished, it will boast space for 3,450 guests, over 1,340 staterooms, 13 passenger decks, a sprawling eight-story atrium, and a complete design makeover to match the line’s iconic tropical theme.

“With the acquisition of our third ship in three years, we are proud to once again invite guests to step into the Margaritaville state of mind on the open ocean,” said CEO Christopher Ivy.

The announcement follows a strong showing in 2024, when the Islander launched to critical acclaim and sold-out voyages. Since its inception in May 2022, Margaritaville at Sea has served hundreds of thousands of travelers, offering a laid-back Caribbean cruise experience inspired by the lifestyle and music of the late Jimmy Buffett.

The Costa Fortuna will continue sailing under Costa Cruises through late 2025 before undergoing its full transformation. Its future homeport and itinerary remain under wraps, but the cruise line has hinted at further expansion into high-demand destinations following its successful addition of Tampa and Cozumel last year.

“Margaritaville at Sea has been on an exceptional trajectory,” said John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville. “This latest addition allows us to deliver our unique cruise experience to even more guests in the years to come.”
