Discarded waste has been reported around Mangel Halto and the road toward Spaanse Lagoen, renewing concern about litter along one of Aruba’s popular coastal areas.
The report documented rubbish left beneath palapas as well as boxes and other waste placed along the roadside. The conditions were observed during the week and were visible in areas used by residents and visitors.
Shared responsibility at public beaches
Mangel Halto is valued for swimming, snorkeling and family gatherings. Waste left behind can affect the appearance of the coast, create risks for wildlife and add pressure to cleanup crews.
Beach users can reduce the problem by taking all food containers, bags and other belongings with them when bins are full or unavailable. Larger household waste and boxes should not be left beside roads or recreation areas.
A recurring environmental concern
Aruba has seen repeated public appeals about illegal dumping and littering. The latest observations are specific to Mangel Halto and Spaanse Lagoen and show why regular community attention remains necessary even when organized cleanups and new cleaning equipment are available.
Residents who encounter substantial dumping can report the location to the appropriate authorities so that waste can be removed and, where possible, the source investigated.
