Malik Azmani Aruba visit took place this week as Prime Minister Mike Eman and Minister Gerlien Croes received Dutch Member of the European Parliament Malik Azmani at the Bestuurskantoor.
Azmani, a member of the liberal VVD party and part of the Renew Europe political group, has served as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. He currently chairs the European Parliament delegation to the Caribbean–European Union Parliamentary Assembly.
During his visit to Aruba, discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Europe and the Caribbean, as well as reinforcing institutional relations. Leaders explored opportunities to further enhance collaboration within the Kingdom and between European institutions and Caribbean partners.
Before joining the European Parliament, Azmani served for nine years as a member of the Dutch Tweede Kamer (House of Representatives), where he concentrated on migration, security, and European affairs. He studied Law at the University of Groningen and began his professional career at the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).
Within the European Parliament, Azmani has held several leadership roles, including First Vice-President of Renew Europe and interim leader of the group in 2024. He is widely recognized for his work on migration policy, democratic governance, and international cooperation.
During the meeting in Aruba, the importance of continued dialogue and close collaboration between Aruba, the Netherlands, and European institutions was emphasized. Discussions highlighted shared opportunities for development, stability, and institutional strengthening in the region.
The meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere, reaffirming the value of cooperation among partners within the Kingdom and within the broader framework of the European Union.
