ORANJESTAD – Aruba’s Manchebo Beach Resort and Spa has once again secured its Green Globe Platinum Certification, reaffirming its position as a pioneer in sustainable hospitality. The resort, which first received certification in 2006, has consistently met the highest global sustainability standards, earning Platinum status for several consecutive years.

This recognition celebrates Manchebo’s long-standing commitment to environmental conservation, carbon footprint reduction, and local economic contribution through circular practices. Nearly two decades into its sustainability journey, the resort continues to lead by example on the island’s picturesque Eagle Beach.

Sustainability at Every Level

Manchebo’s operations are deeply rooted in sustainability. From energy-saving technology to waste reduction strategies, the resort integrates eco-conscious practices throughout its facilities. Its environmental roadmap is built on the principle of continuous improvement—where luxury meets responsible tourism.

A prime example of its efforts is the resort’s on-site glass crusher, which repurposes glass waste into reusable material sold to local businesses. This initiative directly supports Aruba’s circular economy while reducing landfill impact.

Clean Energy and Waste Innovation

The resort generates 20% of its electricity via a 100 kWh solar power system, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels. In the kitchen, EcoLab’s Pathway system breaks down grease and oils, protecting the drainage infrastructure and optimizing maintenance. Grease recycling and other eco-friendly methods ensure that daily operations remain aligned with global environmental best practices.

Manchebo has also implemented low-temperature dishwashing systems, conserving both energy and water while maintaining service quality.

Community Engagement and Staff Empowerment

Manchebo’s sustainable ethos extends to its people. The “Recycling for Everyone” program allows staff to bring recyclables from home, encouraging personal accountability for the environment. The resort also emphasizes employee well-being, introducing mental health initiatives and professional development through regular training sessions on food safety and sustainability.

Going Paperless for a Greener Future

In a move toward digital transformation, the resort has adopted a paperless system for guest bookings, internal management, and service delivery. This shift not only reduces waste but enhances operational efficiency and transparency. Sustainability tracking is monitored through both internal audits and third-party assessments, ensuring consistent adherence to global standards.

A Vision for Sustainable Hospitality

Looking ahead, Manchebo Beach Resort and Spa is committed to further expanding its green initiatives—including additional renewable energy investments and enhanced recycling programs. By prioritizing both guest comfort and environmental stewardship, the resort is setting a standard not just for Aruba but for the entire Caribbean region.

Through its continued leadership in sustainable tourism, Manchebo demonstrates that eco-friendly practices and luxury hospitality can coexist harmoniously—inspiring others in the travel and tourism industry to follow suit.
