On April 27, Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort hosted a lively celebration of King’s Day—known in Dutch as Koningsdag—blending Dutch heritage with Caribbean hospitality. As part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Aruba takes part in this cherished national holiday, which honors King Willem-Alexander’s birthday with vibrant festivities across the Dutch Caribbean.

Each year, Amsterdam Manor brings this cultural tradition to life, infusing it with both its European roots and the island’s tropical flair.

Sweet Surprises and Smiles for Every Guest

This year, King’s Day at Amsterdam Manor was full of surprises. Guests were greeted with a thoughtful gift and a classic Dutch treat to mark the occasion. Adding to the celebration, a costumed hostess, dressed in a whimsical blend of carnival and traditional Dutch attire, roamed the property handing out sweets to guests and staff.

Her bright orange outfit, reflecting the Dutch royal family’s color, added color and joy to the resort’s atmosphere, sparking laughter and creating plenty of photo opportunities.

A Cultural Moment with a Caribbean Twist

What started as a fun surprise turned into a meaningful cultural exchange. Many international guests were thrilled to learn about Aruba’s connection to the Netherlands and the significance of King’s Day celebrations on the island.

At Amsterdam Manor, these thoughtful touches are all about creating moments of connection—helping guests experience not just the beauty of Aruba, but also its rich cultural ties.

“It was a sweet gesture that made our stay feel even more special,” shared one guest. “We loved the mix of tradition and island personality.”

Why Celebrating King’s Day Matters in Aruba

Although King’s Day is celebrated nationwide in the Netherlands, it has particular significance in Aruba, where Dutch heritage is deeply woven into the island’s Caribbean identity. Events like these bridge cultures and give travelers the chance to experience the diversity of the Kingdom of the Netherlands through the unique lens of island life.

At Amsterdam Manor, these cultural traditions are shared with pride, enriching the guest experience and fostering stronger bonds between locals and visitors alike.
