A Kingdom resolution reminder proposed by Aruba parliamentarian Shailiny Tromp-Lee received support at the October 15 Tripartite meeting in Curaçao, according to 24ora’s October 21 report.
Delegations seek a formal response
The outlet said parliamentarians from Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten had still not received the requested formal response to a joint resolution adopted in The Hague in June.
The resolution concerns consultation with the Caribbean countries and the Kingdom’s position on a United Nations vote related to slavery. According to the report, the delegations had sought a reasoned written reply and concrete proposals for improving consultation within three months.
One additional month proposed
Tromp-Lee said that period had passed without the requested answer. Her proposal to send a formal reminder and allow an additional month received approval at the meeting, 24ora reported.
The report describes the reminder as a next step; it does not establish that a government reply has since arrived. Tromp-Lee also argued for a structural Caribbean role in preparing international positions affecting the countries’ history and societies.
