In a vibrant and festive atmosphere at the Dakota Community Center last Saturday, SMAC officially crowned Aruba’s Prins and Pancho for Carnival 72.
This year featured four categories for the Prins & Pancho competitions. Here, DIARIO presents the results for the Adult Prins & Pancho category:
The winners were announced as “Prins Lanta Para,” Jairo Maduro, and “Pancho Boso Por Sinta,” Ivmar (Tyson) Croes, both representing the Hepa Society.
Well-known as Pastoor Jairo Maduro, he already shines with strong singing talent in the Soca competitions—and now proves he is equally outstanding on stage as Prins. A big congratulations to both winners.
According to SMAC President Darren van Ommeren, this year’s competition was held earlier than usual due to the shorter Carnival season. For SMAC and its organizing committees, the priority is ensuring that events involving children take place on weekends, so they do not run late into the night.
This marks the fourth consecutive year under Darren van Ommeren’s direction that the Prins & Pancho elections are offered entirely free to the public, encouraging greater community participation and supporting all contestants who help elevate Carnival activities.
“The community’s support is essential, as this stage is where we discover new comedians, MCs, and event hosts within Aruba,” said SMAC’s president. SMAC congratulates all Prins and Pancho participants and celebrates the newly crowned winners of Carnival 72.
