ORANJESTAD (AAN): The Dominican Independence Aruba Floral Tribute was recently held at Plaza Juan Pablo Duarte in Oranjestad, where members of the Dominican community gathered to commemorate the independence of the Dominican Republic.

The ceremony was organized by the Fundacion Dominicana Arubanse Juan Pablo Duarte, together with the Instituto Duartiano Filial Aruba, as part of the island’s celebration honoring Dominican heritage and national pride. The event took place at the intersection of Van Leeuwenhoekstraat and Caya Ing. Roland Lacle, where the well-known Plaza Juan Pablo Duarte stands as a symbol of Dominican culture in Aruba.

The Dominican Independence Aruba Floral Tribute included the presentation of a floral offering at the monument dedicated to Juan Pablo Duarte, the founding father of the Dominican Republic. The ceremony aimed to honor the significance of Dominican Independence Day and recognize the historical importance of Duarte’s leadership in the country’s struggle for freedom.

Community members gathered at the plaza to reflect on the values of independence, unity, and cultural identity that the day represents for Dominicans living both in their homeland and abroad. For many members of Aruba’s Dominican community, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate their heritage while strengthening cultural ties within the island’s multicultural society.

Several invited guests attended the ceremony, including representatives from the San Nicolas Fire Department Board, members of the organizing foundations, and representatives from local political groups. Their presence highlighted the strong relationship between the Dominican community and Aruba’s broader society.

Participants emphasized the importance of preserving cultural traditions and passing them on to future generations. Events such as the Dominican Independence Aruba Floral Tribute serve as reminders of the shared history and values that unite the Dominican diaspora around the world.

The ceremony was marked by a respectful and reflective atmosphere as attendees observed the floral tribute and shared words about the historical significance of the Dominican Republic’s independence. The event also celebrated the contributions of Dominicans living in Aruba and their role in the island’s diverse cultural landscape.

Following the ceremony at the plaza, participants gathered at the office of the foundation where they continued the celebration with a small reception and toast. The gathering allowed members of the community and invited guests to share conversation and strengthen relationships in a more informal setting.

Organizers expressed their gratitude to everyone who participated in the ceremony and emphasized the importance of maintaining these traditions each year. Through cultural events and commemorations, the Dominican community in Aruba continues to honor its roots while contributing positively to the island’s multicultural identity.

The Dominican Independence Aruba Floral Tribute stands as a meaningful expression of cultural pride, remembrance, and unity for Dominicans living in Aruba.
