The 7th Island Wound Care Symposium, organized by Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH), brought together more than 225 in-person healthcare professionals and roughly 100 virtual participants on September 25–26, 2025, offering a hands-on forum where innovation meets practice. International and local experts—including keynote speakers Joel Alleyne and Dr. Paul J. Kim—shared the latest insights on wound-healing innovations, diabetic foot ulcer management, hyperbaric and topical oxygen therapies, thermal imaging, reconstructive closure, advanced wound-care products, nutrition, and the role of sustainability systems within Aruba’s diabetes intervention programs. Interactive workshops and panels featured local contributors Dr. Alex Ponson, Dr. Larry G. Baratta, and Nurrianne van de Griend-Arias, underscoring how global best practices can be adapted to Aruba’s healthcare context. HOH board member and surgeon Dr. Yuri Casseres noted this is the symposium’s seventh edition, held biennially, and highlighted several new techniques already in use at HOH, with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy now being introduced to Aruba. He thanked the Wound Care team, invited speakers, HOH, and sponsors for making the event a success.
