Aruba – The tragic murder of 60-year-old Luz Divina Faña in her home in Solito has reached a major development. The main suspect, her nephew Adrián Faña, who fled Aruba, has been apprehended by Interpol in the Dominican Republic.
The case began when Luz Divina failed to show up for work at a well-known Eagle Beach restaurant. Concerned colleagues and friends investigated and discovered unusual behavior suggesting she had traveled unexpectedly. Upon checking her home at Solito 42-A, authorities discovered her lifeless body in a freezer on November 21, 2025, prompting a major investigation.
Focus on the Nephew:
Witnesses indicated that the nephew, now 18, had been living in Aruba since childhood. Adrián Faña is believed to have facilitated his aunt’s travel to the Dominican Republic, but subsequently fled Aruba to avoid responsibility. Investigations revealed that prior disputes, including disagreements over a vehicle and personal relationships, may have escalated the crime. It is reported that Adrián used a sharp object to fatally injure his aunt and then hid her body in the freezer.
International Search and Arrest:
Aruba notified Interpol to locate Adrián Faña after he fled to Panama. Reports indicate that on December 19, 2025, Dominican authorities, working with Interpol, confirmed his presence in the Dominican Republic and arrested him. Adrián, originally from María Trinidad Sánchez province, is now in custody.
Next Steps:
The Dominican authorities are processing official extradition requests to bring Adrián Faña back to Aruba to face charges for the murder of Luz Divina Faña. The legal process is expected to take several days before he can be transferred.
