On May 13, 2026, the Departamento di Aduana held a seminar in Oranjestad in collaboration with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The meeting focused on the integration of a new module, IATA Cargo-XML, into the ASYCUDAWorld platform. This initiative is part of the department’s ongoing program to modernize air cargo handling and strengthen border control operations in Aruba.
The new functionality allows airlines, express carriers, and other authorized stakeholders in the air cargo supply chain to submit cargo manifest information electronically using recognized IATA Cargo-XML standards. This enhancement is designed to increase the efficiency, transparency, and reliability of the air cargo process. By granting customs authorities access to information before cargo arrives, the initiative will contribute to faster dispatch times, improved risk management capabilities, and strengthened national border security measures.
Furthermore, the implementation promotes greater accuracy, consistency, and integrity in data submission by reducing manual intervention and standardizing the electronic exchange of information between cargo operators and customs. Through the ASYCUDAWorld platform, participating carriers will benefit from a modernized process that aligns with global industry standards. The introduction of the IATA Cargo-XML framework demonstrates the department’s commitment to digital transformation and the adoption of best practices in customs administration. The Departamento di Aduana will continue to work with international partners to ensure successful implementation.
