A Hunga Teca pet-care session taught Aruba children how to check animals' health and understand the time, cost and dedication pets require.
Animal Day activity focuses on responsibility
Fundacion Snoop Doggy organized an educational activity at Hunga Teca for Animal Day, teaching children what responsible pet ownership involves. Founder Esther van der Put-Freen explained the initiative and led the session.
Children learn basic at-home health checks
The presentation showed children how to examine dogs, cats and other pets at home for ticks, fleas and signs of poor health. It also stressed that an animal needs enough time, money and consistent care from its owner.
Program also visits Aruba schools
The foundation also gives presentations at schools. Its educational project includes stuffed animals named Snoop Doggy and Katty Purry that children can take home for a weekend to practise the routines and responsibilities involved in caring for a pet.
