On Thursday, Minister Geoffrey Wever, who serves as Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector, met with the new Director of FreeZone Aruba NV, Walter Mosher, and the Supervisory Board of the company. Organizational Reforms and New Leadership

According to information shared during the meeting, FreeZone Aruba NV has undergone a significant reorganization over the past year.

Key steps taken during this restructuring process include:

  • Preparation and submission of all financial statements up to 2024

  • Creation of a new Supervisory Board

  • Appointment of a new director

  • Introduction of a Begunstigd Beleid policy designed to reposition FreeZone Aruba NV and attract new investment and businesses

In February 2026, Walter Mosher officially became the new director of FreeZone Aruba NV. Mosher is an Aruban professional who returned to the island after an international career to contribute to the country’s economic development.

Return to Profitability

During the meeting, the company also presented its financial performance and projections.

For 2025, FreeZone Aruba NV recorded a preliminary profit of AWG 482,000, representing a major improvement after years of financial losses.

The company had already achieved its first profit in many years during 2024, and the positive result for 2025 confirms that the restructuring efforts are beginning to produce results.

Budget Projections for 2026

For 2026, FreeZone Aruba NV projects a profit of approximately AWG 282,000.

The lower projected profit compared to 2025 reflects planned investments in:

  • Building maintenance

  • Infrastructure improvements

  • Efforts to attract new companies to establish operations in the FreeZone

Officials indicated that these investments are intended to strengthen the long-term development of the FreeZone.

New Strategy for Economic Growth

With the Begunstigd Beleid policy now in effect and structural reforms implemented within the organization, government officials believe the company is entering a new phase of development.

According to Minister Wever, one of the key goals of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs is to diversify Aruba’s economy.

Initiatives such as the reforms at FreeZone Aruba NV are seen as an important part of that strategy by creating opportunities for new industries and investment beyond tourism.

Through structural improvements and targeted policies, the government hopes FreeZone Aruba NV will continue to grow and contribute to Aruba’s broader economic development.
