A Frank Martinus Arion biography presentation is scheduled for Monday, October 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Biblioteca Nacional Aruba, according to 24ora.
Biographer Mineke de Vries will attend
De Vries will travel from the Netherlands for the presentation of her biography, Uit baldadig hout ben ik gesneden. The book examines the life of the Curaçao writer, who lived from 1936 to 2015.
In comments cited by the outlet, De Vries said she hoped his life story would show the effects that judgement and oppression can have on a person.
Documentary screening included in the program
The evening will also include Frank Martinus Arion: De man, de vrouw, de poëzie, a documentary by the late filmmaker Cindy Kerseborn.
Biblioteca Nacional Aruba, Departamento di Cultura Aruba and cultural coordinator Mirto Laclé are bringing the presentation to Aruba’s public. The announcement welcomes the community but does not specify a ticket price or reservation requirement.
