Carnival 73 funding uncertainty is complicating preparations as SMAC works toward the 2027 season, president Rusette Croes told Diario in a report published on October 20. She said longer sponsorship procedures were making it difficult to establish the available budget.
Committees working while permits are awaited
Croes said the board, installed in September, had formed committees that were preparing their respective areas. Applications for the necessary government permits had been submitted, and she expected replies soon.
According to Croes, uncertainty about sponsorship affects both the budget and which activities can be carried out with the resources available. Her account did not announce a settled funding total or the cancellation of an event.
Ten groups registered for the larger parades
Croes said children’s parades continued to grow and ten groups had already registered for the larger parades. Initial season activities are planned for November, with the Torch Parade scheduled for January 9, 2027.
