Dutch State Secretary Eric van der Burg will begin a working visit to Aruba on Monday, October 12, as part of a broader working tour of Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao running October 12–17, according to a communiqué published October 8.
In Aruba, van der Burg will meet Governor Alfonso Boekhoudt, Prime Minister Mike Eman and Minister Gerlien Croes, who holds the Kingdom Relations portfolio. His program also includes visits to the former Lago refinery grounds, the Korrectie Instituut Aruba (KIA), the One of A Kind Cafe Aruba operated by Fundacion Trampolin pa Trabou, and the Royal Netherlands Navy base at Savaneta.
On Tuesday, October 13, the state secretary will visit Queen Beatrix International Airport for briefings on the project to strengthen border supervision, before continuing on to Bonaire.
Bonaire and Curaçao program
In Bonaire, van der Burg’s program covers the political and administrative situation, Selibon Lagun, tourism development and the Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland (RCN). From October 15 to 16 he will visit Curaçao, where border security and neighborhood development are on the agenda.
