Endy Croes Addresses Parliament
Parliamentarian Endy Croes recently addressed the Parliament regarding the Avestruz case involving former AVP minister Benny Sevinger. The discussion follows a ruling by five judges in the Netherlands at the Cassation level, which found Benny Sevinger and others guilty of corruption.
Motion Regarding Corruption Case
During the public meeting on April 16, Parliamentarian Croes presented a motion on behalf of the MEP faction, demanding that the convicted AVP members serve their sentences at KIA. The AVP-Futuro faction voted against this motion. Croes highlighted the contrast between this vote and the faction’s stance on collecting funds from citizens who received FASE aid during the pandemic.
FASE Aid Collection Concerns
The Parliamentarian argued that while 15,000 citizens who received FASE aid are being pursued for repayment, the AVP-Futuro faction voted against accountability in the largest corruption case in Aruba’s history. Croes criticized the prioritization of recovering funds from vulnerable citizens over addressing the corruption verdict.
