Aruban Swimmer Elisabeth Timmer Sets New National Record at Rotterdam Qualification Meet
Aruban competitive swimming reached another milestone this week as Elisabeth Timmer shattered the national record in the 100-meter freestyle at the Rotterdam Qualification Meet 2026 in the Netherlands.
Timmer, representing the Stingray Swimming Team, touched the wall in 56.68 seconds, lowering her own national mark with a commanding performance against top-tier European competition. She opened strong with a 50m split of 27.07 seconds and held her form through the second half of the race, demonstrating both speed and endurance.
The field in Rotterdam included swimmers from the Dutch national team and several other leading European swimming nations, making Timmer’s record-setting swim all the more impressive. She delivered a controlled, powerful race from start to finish.
Timmer wasn’t done yet. Following her record swim, she prepared to compete in a swim-off for a spot in the A final, remaining composed and focused as she shifted attention to the next challenge.
The Stingray Swimming Team celebrated the achievement, highlighting Timmer’s performance as a source of inspiration for young Aruban athletes and a reflection of the island’s growing presence in competitive swimming on the international stage.
Timmer’s continued progress signals a bright future for Aruban swimming, as she consistently raises the bar for herself and her country with each competition.
